Below is a selection of calligraphic work. Each design was created in my studio using traditional materials such as quills, Mitchell, Brause and Coit nibs, hand ground inks and gouache. The artwork is then converted to a digitized file and printed on fine quality paper. The print is returned to the studio where hand tinting, gold leaf, stenciling. additional drawing or painting is added to each finished piece of artwork. Each print is hand signed. I was traditionally trained as a calligrapher using materials and methods in use since medieval times. Somewhat ironic, I am inspired and fascinated by maintaining the integrity of the lettering arts and utilizing today's digital technology. |
